The small farming village of Airún is completely destroyed by a devastating earthquake. Juan Orsi, fails to realise just how serious the consequences of this earth-shattering event are for his village, as he is far too busy helping the victims of the disaster and trying to coax his wife out of the coma she is in. The only person capable of shedding some light on the mystery surrounding the catastrophe is the retired Professor Zucker, whose eccentric personality is all too often shrugged off by those unable to see the fate drawing in on them.
